Also from June, a large 6-player game of Warhammer 40K in progress.
Tim Myall (IV/79 Later Swiss) vs Simon Walker (Communal Italians)
DBM version 3.1 at 450 AP, May 2009
After the initial moves Simon moves his right flank attack into position. At the bottom, The Italian Knights head for the Swiss baggage.
View from behind the Swiss at the completion of Simon's move, as the Italian skirmishers delay the Pike Blocks.
Close up of Simon's nicely painted crossbowmen and spearmen.
The Italian Skirmishers significantly break up the Swiss line of battle.
Simon's beautifully painted Knights (irregular).
Simon's flank attack develops at the Swiss rumble ever closer to the Venetian line.
Swiss in contact with the Venetian skirmishers all along the line.
Venetian Knights having their formation broken up by Swiss skirmishers, enough that the Swiss Pike block have time to break the Venetian centre. Game over.
Tim Myall (Early Imperial Roman with Edessan allies (101AD)) vs Bob McDermott (Khmer (1171AD))
DBM version 3.1 at 450 AP, August 2nd 2009
This was the rematch from the DBM 3.0 game of 11th November 2007 that is on the website already.
The position after Bob's first turn, his army on the right in the nice formation.
Close ups of Bob's main battleline (almost the whole army).
As battle is about to be joined as the Khmer have used the cover of Mist and Winter's dawn to drive of the Roman skirmishers and close with the artillery for the loss of only one Elephant. At the very top of the picture the Roman Ally is being skirmished out of the game by 3 Auxillia. Things look a bit dicey for the Romans.
At this point it was too involved to stop for photos...
The battle end. Bob's CinC was dead and the yellow counters mark his two broken commands.
