Since the new restrictions prohibit more than six people gathering indoors, we have decided to delay reopening the club until the situation improves. The Village Hall Management have been advised by their national association that six people is the limit for groups.
It is simply uneconomic for us to open for just six players at a time when we have well over forty members. We are sure that members will appreciate that we need to conserve our funds for the future. As we have already stated in a previous update, we will be offering a significant discount on next year’s membership fees for those members who paid for a year’s membership in 2020.
We are aware that the new law makes provision for certain activities to be excluded from the restrictions. However, wargames clubs do not appear on the list and, with the best will in the world, we can hardly be considered a youth club! That said, we are continuing to explore possibilities with the Village Hall Management and hope to give you a further update in the next week or so.
For now, however, the club will remain closed until further notice.
Essex Warriors club is reopening for members only on 27th September with precautionary measures in place to guard against Covid 19 risks. Full details of these measures have been emailed direct to members
The committee has decided that due to the current Covid-19 virus the next 2 club meetings will be cancelled. That’s this Sunday 22nd March and the 5th April. (There’s only one meeting booked in April luckily).
Advice on the May meetings will be given in mid April.
We have been advised that a cycling event will be passing through Writtle on 20th September and is likely to disrupt traffic in the area. Therefore, Essex Warriors Committee have moved our 20th September meeting to 27th September.
A small change to Essex Warriors 2020 dates. Caesaromagus 2020 will now take place on the weekend of 5th/6th December instead of 14th/15th November and the Essex Warriors 6th December meeting has been shifted back to 15th November. The 8th November meeting has been cancelled to avoid having three meetings on consecutive Sundays.
The website calendar has been updated. For convenience the revised schedule is also listed below

The club meeting originally scheduled for Saturday 26th October has now been moved to the following Sunday 3rd November. The meeting will take place in the Main Hall only.
The Committee have noted that the trial Saturday meeting held on 27th April was not well supported and we understand that members have other calls on their time on Saturdays.Since the Hall costs more to rent on a Saturday there seemed little point in extending the experiment and we were happy to swap dates with the Caesaromagus competition which will now take place over the weekend of 26th/27th October.
The remaining dates for 2019 are listed below for your convenience. (Main Hall only except where marked)
