About Essex Warriors
The Essex Warriors Miniatures Wargames club is a club where a variety of battles and wars from all periods of history - and outside of history from science fiction and fantasy - can be played in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. Our aim is to have fun enjoying the hobby.
We meet at Writtle Village hall near Chelmsford on Sundays (with the occasional Saturday) usually twice a month. On meeting days we open at 9:30 am and close at 5:00 pm. The club has been in continuous existence for some 25 years and our membership currently stands at around 40 members, including gamers from a wide area of Mid-Essex.
The club provides a number of facilities to members such as scenery, cloths and an ever growing number of club armies and games. We publish our own club magazine on a quarterly basis, with monthly newsletters.
Annual membership is £40, with a reduced rate available for concessions, and the first 3 meetings are free - so come and see us soon!
Historical Miniatures
The historical periods being played at the club include Ancients, Medieval, High Renaissance, English Civil War, Napoleonics, American Civil War, Colonials, Spanish Civil War, WW2 and Moderns. Players are using all scales and many different rules, with popular rule sets being DBM and, more recently, Field of Glory.
Sci-Fi and Fantasy
We have a large number of sci-fi and fantasy players playing games such as Warhammer, Warhammer 40K, Star Trek, Full Thrust, Starship Troopers, Hybrid, Confrontation and a Dinosaur game.
RPGs
Members also play RPGs such as D&D, Call of Cthulhu, Castle Falkenstien, Mutants and Masterminds and Red Dwarf.
Board Games
Another regular feature is board-gaming, covering titles like Settlers of Catan, Stone Age, Scotland Yard, Ticket to Ride and Power Grid.
Wargames
Non-miniatures wargames share some table time too, whether card-driven games, like Paths of Glory or Twilight Struggle, or hex-based games, like Commands and Colours or Tide of Iron.
In short, whatever your table-top gaming tastes, there's a good chance that someone at the club will share them!
